Description
A Chinese Duan ink stone, dating from the Qing dynasty. A stone mortar for the grinding and containment of ink, thick and in a natural form. Finely polished on three sides with shallow incised characters on the face lower left and upper right. Rear has several lines of characters and a Chinese symbol. Small rim created on top to contain the ink. H. 8 1/4" (20.1 cm) D. 5 1/2" (14 cm) Collection of a private Connecticut collector Condition in overall good condition with surface wear and few chips to the edge
